Stadium Information

Away fans are located in the upper tier of the north stand, which is behind one of the goals. There is room for up to 3,000 travelling fans here. Facilities in this area are good, but the upper tier is very high and there are a lot of stairs from the ground floor to the seats. Visiting fans generally enter the ground through turnstiles 69-72. The Stadium of Light is a cashless venue.

Getting There

By Car

Roads can be very busy near the Stadium of Light and supporters are advised to allow extra time to deal with the traffic build up. Roads near the stadium are residential only and are well monitored on matchdays. Parking is available at the Stadium of Light Metro station, while there are many car parks in Sunderland city centre, which is a 10 to 15-minute walk from the stadium. St Mary's is a popular parking option. (SR1 3AH).

By Train

Sunderland train station is located less than one mile from the Stadium of Light and the walk takes between 15 and 20 minutes. The walk is straightforward with the stadium visible for most of the trip. The Stadium of Light and St Peter’s metro stations are close to the stadium, and you can travel to these from Newcastle and Sunderland city centres.

By Bus

Several bus routes stop near the stadium. Routes 101, 102, and 103 run every 10 minutes on match days. The bus stop is right outside the main entrance.

Nearby Pubs

William Jameson (a Wetherspoons in the town centre) is popular with football fans but can become busy. The vast majority of pubs and restaurants in the city centre accept away fans. Sunderland's supporter liaison officer has highlighted Greens, Street Bar, Victors, Fire Station & The Peacock as being the best for supporters. For those looking for something closer to the Stadium of Light, the Colliery Tavern and the Hilton Hotel also accept away fans. The Grindon Club (SR4 9RX) is used to park supporter coaches, and fans can get food and drinks here. Supporters are also able to enter Sunderland's fan zone the Beacon of Light Fanzone which is open to home and away fans from midday.
